Break out your needles to learn how to knit this new stitch! It’s one of the most well known among knitters; we’re going to show you a classic: the daisy stitch. We wanted to add a special touch by combining two different colors of our Petite Wool, but you can knit it in one color only if you prefer.

The daisy stitch creates a denser fabric than stockinette stitch or garter stitch, so you can use it to knit sweaters, scarves…it has gorgeous texture!

Cast on a multiple of 4 stitches + 1.

Row 1: knit all stitches.

Row 2: knit 1. *Purl 3 together keeping them on the needle, yarnover, purl the same 3 stitches together  again, but this time drop them from the needle, knit 1*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

If you are going to use two colors, change to the second color after row 2.

Row 3: knit all stitches.

Row 4: knit 1, purl 1, knit 1. *Purl 3 together keeping them on the needle, yarnover, purl the same 3 stitches together again, but this time drop them from the needle, knit 1*. Repeat from * to * until there are 2 stitches left, purl 1, knit 1.

If you are using two colors change back to the first color after row 4.
Repeat these 4 rows until you reach the desired length.

We hope you liked this new stitch, you can use it to customize any of our basic knitting kits to make it unique. Don’t forget to show us your projects with the daisy stitch using #weareknitters on social networks.
