If you like double crochets you are going to love this particular stitch!

You can try crocheting it with cotton and with wool to see the what it looks like with each type of material because you will see that it looks completely different.

The number of stitches has to be any even number + 3 extra chains in the first chain.

Row 1: crochet 1 double crochet into the fifth chain starting to count from the crochet hook, *crochet a chain, skip the next chain, crochet 1 double crochet into the next chain*.

Repeat from * to * until you have completed the row and turn the project around.

Row 2: skip the first double crochet, *crochet 1 double crochet into the space left by the chain of the previous row, crochet a chain*.

Repeat from * to * until you have completed the row and finish with a stitch in the fourth chain of the previous row. Crochet 4 chains and turn the project around.

Repeat the second row until you have reached the desired length.

One of the advantages of this stitch is the speed with which you can crochet so you can use it to crochet really big projects.

As it forms a kind of net with spaces between the stitches it is very apt to crochet accessories you can use at home or clothes for the summer.

In our example we have used blue cotton, but you can of course use any color of cotton you like and a 5MM crochet hook.
