Crochet is a very fun craft with endless possibilities, you can create the most varied projects, from blankets and baskets for your home, to the coziest garments or even toys. And having the correct tools will ensure your success.
Ready to try? take a moment to gather your supplies carefully, these are the most important:
Yarn
The first thing that comes to your mind is yarn, right? maybe you have already decided which one you will use.
To start crocheting we suggest you choose a chunky yarn. Chunky yarn will help you to see the stitches better, count them and be clear where to insert the crochet hook. In crochet it is very important where you insert the crochet hook, counting the stitches is very important.
A bulky or super bulky yarn will be fine to get started, you will see how fast you will be able to finish your projects, this will give you extra motivation.

Crochet hook

Scissors
I Know… everyone has a pair in their home but, we highly recommend adding new ones just to cut your yarns, all purpose scissors can peel the wool off and it will be difficult to have sharp ends. Threading a tapestry needle with a shaggy end will be quite difficult.
Do not use your yarn scissors to cut other stuff, scissors can develop little cracks that can damage your yarn.
Stitch markers
Stitch markers can be really useful, they will help you to keep track of the rows, also to find the beginning of the row in circular crocheted projects.
At first we recommend using stitch markers to mark the last turning chain on each row, this will help you to identify where you have to insert the crochet hook to work the last stitch of every row.
Our favorite use of the stitch marker is to hold the last stitch, if you leave this stitch free, your project can unravel easily. We definitely love the clip on ones but if you prefer you can use spiral ones.
Tapestry needle
Tapestry needle will help you to sew and connect your pieces and even if you have a flat one piece project, tapestry needle will help you weave ends in. Take your time to weave the ends in, try to hide and secure them in the best possible way otherwise over time you will be showing loose threads.
We advise the metal ones, metal needles won’t snag on the yarn and will hide the ends better. Use a proper needle the size. Size will be determined by the yarn you are using.
Measuring tape
Measuring correctly your stitch sample will be quite useful to get your final garment perfect fit. Verifying once in a while the width will prevent tension variations.
Also many projects use measurements instead of row numbers.
A retractable measuring tape is the best option, it won’t tangle and won’t break easily.
