Hi knitters!
Today we are teaching you a new stitch… the fabric stitch! Also known as the linen stitch. This is a very attractive and compact stitch that will look amazing on your scarves or on decorative accessories like placemats or bags. Try it with your next WAK knitting kit and the results will surprise you!
To start knitting in fabric stitch, you have to cast on an even number of stitches onto one of your WAK wooden knitting needles. Remember that to do this stitch, you should knit the edge stitches (the first and the last) in all of the rows.
Row 1: slip the first stitch, knit one stitch, followed by: * slip a purl stitch with the thread of yarn in front of the needle, knit one stitch *
Repeat from * to * this last step until you finish the row with a knit stitch.
Row 2: slip a stitch, purl one stitch, followed by: * slip a knit stitch with the thread of yarn behind the needle, purl one stitch *
Repeat from * to * this last step until you finish the row with a purl stitch.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 until you finish the project.
In order for you to practice the fabric stitch, we have left you a tutorial so that you can make some beautiful coasters in two colors of WAK fine wool.
Start by casting on 16 stitches onto one of your WAK wooden knitting needles. Knit 15 rows in fabric stitch with color A. At row 16 change to color B and knit 3 rows in fabric stitch. At row 18, change back to color A and knit 3 rows in fabric stitch. Cast off all the stitches.
