If you are passionate about latch hook projects but can’t find canvases big enough for the projects you have in mind, we’ve got a solution. We will teach you an easy way to join two canvases together so that you can create much larger projects on a larger canvas. Let’s see how!
For this step-by-step tutorial we used two panels of latch hook canvas, a latch hook and a skein of our The Petite Wool.
The first thing we will do is cut the strands with which we will make the fringe. They should be approximately 16 cm long so that they are not too short and you can work comfortably.
To join the two canvases: we will place one on top of the other. Make sure that they overlap by three rows on each canvas.
We insert the latch hook needle through both canvases to tie the fringe at the same time, working as if they were one.
We will knot the fringes in rows three by three, as you can see in the upper Image. We link a video here to explain how to make latch hook fringes, in case you have any questions 🙂
We keep knotting fringes until we reach the top of both canvases.
In the image above we show you how the back of your work should look.
Once we have finished joining the two canvases, we will only have to remove the masking tape from the edges. So we can continue working on the rows that were covered with it.
Now you can start working on much bigger projects without letting the size stop you.
