It’s never a bad idea to expand our repertoire of knitting patterns, especially if they’re as useful and easy as the one we are going to show you today, zigzag rib stitch. Doesn’t it have a vintage look? We love this stitch, and even though it looks complicated, you only need to know how to knit and purl, after watching the following video you’ll catch on quickly:
To knit this pattern cast on a multiple of 3 stitches + 1 extra stitch.
Row 1: knit 1 stitch through the back loop, *wrap the yarn around the needle once, knit 2 stitches together through the back loop, knit 1 stitch through the back loop *. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.
Row 2: purl 1 stitch through the back loop, * purl 2 stitches, purl 1 stitch through the back loop*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.
Row 3: knit 1 stitch through the back loop, *knit 2 stitches together, wrap the yarn around the needle once, knit 1 stitch through the back loop *. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.
Row 4: purl 1 stitch through the back loop, * purl 2 stitches, purl 1 stitch through the back loop*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.
Repeat rows 1 to 4 until you reach the desired length.
