How to knit American moss stitch (odd number of stitches)

Aside from making your projects stand out with their great texture, American moss stitch allows us to work with an even or odd number of stitches. It’s one of the few stitch patterns that allows you to do so, which is why it’s so easy to adapt and use for any pattern; no matter how many stitches you choose to work with.

Cast on any odd number of stitches.
Row 1: work alternating 1 knit stitch followed by 1 purl stitch until the end of the row.

 

Row 2: work alternating 1 purl stitch followed by 1 knit stitch until the end of the row.
Row 3: work alternating 1 purl stitch followed by 1 knit stitch until the end of the row.

 

Row 4: work alternating 1 knit stitch followed by 1 purl stitch until the end of the row

 

Repeat rows 1 to 4 until you reach the desired length.
