For this tutorial, we used our Pima Cotton, which creates a perfect stitch definition.

Multiple of 6 stitches +1 stitch. Not reversible.

Row 1: knit 1, *knit 5 wrapping the yarn 3 times around the needle, knit 1*.  Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

Row 2: purl 1, *place the yarn behind the work, slip the next 5 stitches as if you were going to purl them, releasing the extra strands. Place the yarn at the front of the work, slip the 5 stitches back onto the left needle. Place the yarn behind the work, slip the 5 stitches onto the right needle. Purl 1*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

Row 3: knit all stitches.

With these 3 rows, we will have an edge with flowers. To continue knitting this type of stitch or start it at any time in a piece, continue with the following rows:

Work rows 4 to 12 in stockinette stitch.

Row 11: knit all stitches.

Row 13: purl 1, *place the yarn behind the work, slip the next 5 stitches as if you were going to purl them, releasing the extra strands. Place the yarn at the front of the work, slip the 5 stitches back onto the left needle. Place the yarn behind the work, slip the 5 stitches onto the right needle. Purl 1*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

Row 14: knit all stitches.
