This really beautiful stitch is knitted by combining knitted and purled stitches so that in the end you have a mixture of eyelet and rib stitch. It’s really easy to learn especially because all you really need to do is repeat two rows over and over again. So you have absolutely no excuse for not giving it a go!
You can first have a look at how this stitch is knit in the following video:
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtuYUD4TLOg]You need a number of stitches that is a multiple of 7 + 1 extra.
Row 1: knit one stitch, *purl one stitch, knit one stitch, make a yarn over, purl 2 stitches together, knit one stitch, purl one stitch, knit one stitch*, repeat from * to * until you have completed the row.
Row 2: purl one stitch, *knit 2 stitches, make a yarn over, purl 2 stitches together, knit 2 stitches, purl one stitch*, repeat from * to * until you have completed the row.
Repeat these two rows until you have reached the desired length.
One of the great advantages of this stitch is that it doesn’t roll up at the rims and that it looks exactly the same on both sides so that you can use it on any type of clothes or accessories. So take out your needles and let’s go 😀
There are so many colors of cotton you can use, what’s your favorite? We choose salmon and 5mm wooden needles.
