In this post we are going to learn how to knit the Chevron Seed stitch, it forms a textured zigzag pattern, and in this case we used a combination of alternating knit and purl stitches the same as for seed stitch.

We will cast on a multiple of 8 stitches. For our example we casted on 24 stitches.

Row 1:*purl 1, knit 3*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

Row 2: *knit 1, purl 5, knit 1, purl 1*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

Row 3: *knit 2, purl 1, knit 3, purl 1, knit 1*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

It might seem a bit confusing, but don’t worry, when the pattern starts to appear it will be easier to follow.

Row 4: *purl 2, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, purl 3*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

Now you just have to repeat these 4 rows until you reach the desired length for your project.

This stitch is very striking and looks great on the edge of cuffs or the ends of a scarf. Let your imagination fly! And if you combine more than one color you can make trendy Navajo inspired designs. It can also be used for details such as pockets or lapels. Are you for the challenge to knit Chevron?
