Today, a new stitch: lace arrows. The lace stitches are very versatile and besides they offer so much variety. You can work lace stitches with wool, cotton, or any other fiber, and the results are always fabulous. We used the We are knitters Pima cotton, with size US 8 (5mm) knitting needles for the sample.

To work this kind of stitch, you need to know how to do the following techniques:

  1. Cast on
  2. Purl stitch
  3. Knit stitch
  4. Yarn over
  5. SKPO (slip, knit, pass over)
  6. Knit 2 together.
  7. SK2TPO (slip, k2tog, pass over)

To work this stitch you need to cast on a multiple of 10 stitches plus 1 stitch. For our sample we have casted on 30 stitches + 1.

Row 1 and all odd rows (wrong side): purl all stitches.

Row 2 (right side): knit 1. *yarn over, SKPO

yarn over, SKPO, knit 1, knit 2 together

yarn over, knit 2 together, yarn over, knit 1*. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

Row 4: knit 2

*yarn over, SKPO, yarn over, SK2TPO, yarn over, knit 2 together, yarn over, knit 3*. Repeat from * to * until there are 9 stitches left. Yarn over, SKPO, yarn over, SK2TPO, yarn over, knit 2 together, yarn over, knit 2.

Repeat rows 1 to 4 as many times as you wish, according to the project you are working. Only 2 of the rows are a little complicated. As for the rest, you just need to fearlessly go for it even if you are not used to lace stitches. You’ll see how hooked you get.

Don’t forget to take a lot of pictures and share them on social networks with #weareknitters.
