Hello knitters!

Today we are going to show you a new stitch to make your knitted pieces really stand out! Think it’s complicated? Think again, you will get the hang of this stitch before you know it.

How to knit the Netted Stitch

With this very simple stitch you can learn in a very easy way how to make netting and laces. This netted stitch is really the most basic stitch of all, you simply make decreases and then balance them out with increases.

In order to knit this stitch all you need is a pair of needles and wool from We Are Knitters; the stitch looks a lot better when knitted with thick wool (in the sample we have used 15 mm needles and a honey-colored ball of wool).

Cast on a number of stitches that is a multiple of 2 and then add 2 extra stitches. The simple netted stitch is reversible.

  • Row 1: knit one stitch, *wrap the thread around the needle, knit 2 stitches together*, repeat from * to * until there is only one stitch left and knit it.
  • Row 2: repeat row 1.

Repeat these two rows until you have reached the desired length and then cast off all stitches.

See? Told you it’s really easy! However, if you want to achieve an even better result, wash the cloth after you have finished knitting and then pull it into the desired form. This way the laces will be a lot clearer and look nicer.
